Shoreham celebrates 150 years of European settlement
| | | |
| Celebrates with Flinders District Historical Society | | In 2009 the seaside village of Shoreham celebrates 150 years of European settlement. The earliest map of land subdivision in what was then the Stony Creek area is dated 25 June 1859, naming the landholders and township reserve.
Flinders District Historical Society is planning a number of activities to mark this significant anniversary.
Our forthcoming Newsletter will feature details of the historical background to the sesquicentenary, tracing the stories of the first families to take up land around Stony Creek.
In November a display of historical material in the Shoreham hall will be open to the public on the Sundays of November between 2 and 4 pm.
A Remembrance Day service will be followed by morning tea at Shoreham hall on Wednesday 11 November at 10.45 am.
Our celebrations will conclude on Saturday 14 November, with an official welcome and afternoon tea at the hall at 2 pm.
