After School Kids Activities

We run regular after school activities for 6-12 year old to encourage computational thinking, creativity, reason systematically and working collaboratively.  The following activities are cycled through Mornington, Rosebud and Hastings each school term.  A parent or guardian is expected to be present in the library during the activity.  Please see dates below. 

Edison Lego Club

Edison robots are engaging tool for teaching kids computational thinking and computer programming in a hands-on way. Edison are Lego brick compatible in addition to having their own EdCreate construction kits.  Kids will build and program their creations using barcodes to respond to light and sound, follow lines and avoid obstacles and so much more. 

These are drop in sessions no booking are required.  Suitable for ages 6-12.

Term 3 2019 Rosebud Library, 4pm Wednesdays July 17th - September 18th.

Young inventors 

The young inventors is a project based learning program that provides a hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math opportunity to budding young inventors. They will be using LittleBits and Micro:BBC boards to invent objects such as a self driving art machine or a cardboard inch worm. Suitable for ages 8-12.

This is a 6 week program on Thursdays 4pm - 5pm. You should be able to attend all 6 sessions, as the course is progressive with each week building on the previous week's contact.

Places are limited and bookings are essential.

Term 3 2019 Mornington Library, 4pm - 5pm Thursdays 18th July - 22nd August.

Build Code Play

Kids will be doing hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths activities over the course of 6 weeks. This activities will help develop kids problem-solving creatively, offer collaboration, increase critical thinking in a hands on session. 

These sessions will have a mix of activities that kids can choose to discover, less structured with lots of options to build, code, play.

These are drop in sessions no booking are required.  Suitable for ages 6-12.
