Our Seed Libraries
Share seeds with your local community at our Library.
It is a way to have fun, build community with fellow gardeners, and support people who are new to the world of gardening. It encourages gardeners to save quality seeds that are suitable for your local growing area.
The program is also a great way to get children involved in gardening, teaching them where food comes from.
Borrow
The way the library works is very simple: gardeners “borrow” seeds from the library at planting time. Mornington Peninsula Libraries members can take up to three seed packets per visit. Written on the packets are the plant’s name, a description and care instructions.
Sow
Sow your seeds, grow your plants, and enjoy your garden.
Donate
At the end of the growing season, you save seeds from the plants and return a portion of the seeds to the library for others to use. The seed libraries are currently available at Hastings, Mornington, Rosebud and Somerville Libraries.
