Diane Deeming recently moved to the Mornington Peninsula with her husband Ron. Whilst embracing this sea change, and after 17 years, she finished her debut novel, All Her Own. Diane and Ron when not playing golf, continue to entertain as a musical duo.
All Her Own is set in the devastating miseries of London's 1944 bombings, where a young, naive English girl Mary falls hopelessly in love with Charlie, building a new life in England with their baby girl.
When Charlie is called away for work, Mary is lonely, and succumbs to the wiles of Archie, an egotistical Scot. Pregnant with Archie’s child, and left abandoned by Charlie, Mary has no option but to move with him to Glasgow, Scotland. Here she lives in a rat-infested one room tenement slum, with a violent, abusive man who has no potential or ambition.
This story spans 3 decades and encompasses England, Scotland and Australia.
